Example of Cooperative Learning

¿What is Cooperative Learning?

It involves students working together in small groups to accomplish shared goals. It is widely recognized as a teaching strategy that promotes socialization and learning among students of all ages and across different subject areas. (Cohen as cited in Gillies 2007). This kind of learning has been used successfully to promote different skills and to enhance intergroup relations with those from culturally and ethnically different backgrounds. But the major benefits of cooperative learning that teachers have identified for students with special needs include improved self-esteem, a safe learning environment, and better classroom success rates and products. In fact, it has been argued that cooperative learning experiences are crucial to preventing and alleviating many of the social problems related to children, adolescents, and young adults.
